The pre-separator, which sits between tool and extractor and takes the bulk out before it reaches the filter. Air is spun in a cyclone, heavy particles are thrown outward and drop into a container, and only the fine remainder goes on. It catches up to about 80% of mineral dust and up to 95% of coarse debris like sawdust — so the filter stays clear, suction holds, and bulk waste fills a cheap container rather than filter bags.
